Dr. Floyd W. Carpenter, 68, of Murray, Kentucky died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his home after an extended illness.
Dr. Carpenter was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on February 21, 1946 to the late Dale and Grace (Bratley) Carpenter.
Dr. Carpenter was a Professor in the Accounting Department of the Bauernfeind College of Business at Murray State University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and he was a member and Chapter Advisor of the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Murray State University.
Dr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Carpenter of Murray; three sons, Michael Stephen Johnson of Clearwater, Florida, Mark Stuart Carpenter and wife Christina of Mesa, Arizona and John Paul Carpenter of Murray; two brothers, Jerry Carpenter of St. Louis, Missouri and Don Carpenter and wife Ruth of Mesa, Arizona; as well as one grandchild, Krisha Braden of Mesa, Arizona.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First United Methodist in Murray.
