Frances D. Butterworth

Frances Downs Stamps Butterworth passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mrs. Butterworth was 93 years old and was born in Murray, Kentucky on October 1, 1918. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leila Houston Downs and Samuel R. Downs; two brothers, Edward and W.T. Downs; one sister, Martha Lou Downs Stokes; as well as by her first husband, John D. Stamps in 1969 and her second husband, Vernon P. Butterworth in 1996.

She is survived by one daughter, Bette Stamps Doran and husband Jim of Germantown, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Karen Doran Lively and husband Dale of Germantown, Tennessee; one grandson, Mark Doran of Icard, North Carolina; three great grandsons Blake and Brian Lively of Germantown, Tennessee and Brandon Doran of Lenoir City, Tennessee; three great- great grandchildren of Lenoir City, Tennessee; she is also survived by one step daughter, June Butterworth Parks and husband Swann of Bartlett, Tennessee; two step grandchildren, Greg Parks and wife Donna and Gina Parks Torrey and husband Bill; four step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; as well as one niece, Judy Boaz of Princeton, Kentucky.

Mrs. Butterworth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murray and a former member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church, also a former member of the Murray Woman's Club.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray, Kentucky with Brother Boyd Smith officiating. Burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until service time (2:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.
