Mr. Fred Schultz, 89, of Murray, Kentucky died Sunday, August 12, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Schultz was born Nov. 12, 1922 in Hardingsburg, Ky. to the late Fred T. and Louise Lewis Schultz. Mr. Schultz was retired from the Murray Independent School district as a teacher, high school principal, and served as superintendent for 15 years. He also worked for the Kentucky department of Education for 7 years, and was a consultant with Kentucky School board association for 5 years. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Murray, and also the Solomon Sunday school class. Mr. Schultz earned a Masters degree from Murray State University, and did additional post graduate work at Peabody College. He was also a former member of the Murray Lions Club and also served as president.
Survivors include one daughter, Selwyn Parker and husband Craig of Louisville, Ky., two grandchildren, Matthew Parker of Murray, Ky., and Leah Carmean and husband Adam of Nashville, Tn., sister in law, Marjorie Crass of Murray, Ky., four nieces Selwyn McPhearson of Ridgeland, Ms., Leah Hart of Murray, Stacy Hume of Nashville, Tn., Karen Bellas Cunningham of Marietta, Ga., two nephews Greg Parrish of Anchorage, Alaska, and Rick Bellas of Florida.
Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his parent, wife, Jo Crass Schultz, two sisters, Jane Bellas, and Dorothy Williams.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Murray, and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, visitation will also be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 9a.m. till 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
