Mrs. Freda Lovett, age 89, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mrs. Lovett was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on February 27, 1929 to the late Goble Robertson and Gracie Clark Robertson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, serving on the local, district and conference levels, and was also a member of the Murray Christian Women's Club. Mrs. Lovett also participated in the Ruth Wilson Circle, the Covenant Prayer Group and the Christian Adult's Sunday School Class, of which she served as co-secretary.
Her education included elementary school in Calloway County and Almo High School. She was an outstanding student who excelled in all subjects. Mrs. Lovett was the Salutatorian of the Almo graduating class of 1947. In addition, she also attended Murray State University and the Secretarial Vocational School.
Mrs. Lovett was well known as an outstanding homemaker. She was devoted to her husband, Durwood, of 49 years, her daughters, Kathy and Jennifer, her extended family and her church. She was a blessing to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Durwood Lovett; one daughter, Jennifer Lovett Embry and son-in-law Jim Embry; one brother, Ralph Robertson and step-father, Y.E. Williams.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Lovett Nelson and husband Bill of Benton, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Ashley Cleaver O'Barr and husband Terry of Madison, Alabama, Russell Lovett Cleaver and wife Jill of Murray, Kentucky and Jeffery Logan Embry of Germantown, Tennessee; one great grandchild, Bella Grace Cleaver of Murray, Kentucky; also several nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Minnie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Stahler and Mark Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
