Garth Franklin Petrie

Dr. Garth Franklin Petrie, age 73 of Middleburg, FL, died Saturday, December 10, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Petrie was born in Cunningham, KY on February 13, 1938 to the late Robert Lee "R.L." Petrie and Dolly Partin Petrie. Dr. Petrie retired from Murray State University in 1993 as a professor in the Educational Leadership Department. Dr. Petrie was an Army veteran and was of the Methodist Faith.
Dr. Petrie is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Petrie of Middleburg, FL; three daughters, Terri Lynn Galloway of Shelbyville, TN, Sherri Lee Gibson and Cindi Gaye Gullixson both of Murray, KY; one sister, Nancy Owens of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Robert Eugene Petrie of Carlisle Co., KY and Ronald "Bub" Petrie of Union City, TN; as well as, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Leslie officiating. Burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the funeral home and on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until funeral hour.
