Mr. Gene Parker, age 82 of Murray Kentucky, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Mr. Parker was a veteran having served his country in the United States Army and his community as a Deputy for the Calloway County Sheriff's Department and the Murray City Police Department. He had also been employed as a truck driver for All State Freightways and Ellis Popcorn Company. Mr. Parker was also self-employed as a bulldozer operator and a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ.
Mr. Parker was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on May 27, 1935 to the late James Anderson and Madeline Lockhart Parker. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by wife, Linda King Parker and one sister, Shelby Parker Suiter.
Mr. Parker is survived by two daughters, Tammie Hoover and husband Kenny and Traci Green and husband Jerry both of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, James Dale Parker and wife Donna of Whitestown, Indiana; four grandchildren, Lauralee Latimer and husband Jeremy of Murray, Kentucky, Blake Hoover and wife Katie of Independence, Kentucky, Raegan Green and Parker Green both of Murray, Kentucky; three great grandchildren, Dire Doughtery, Layne Latimer and Merritt Latimer; also expected great grandchild, Baby Hoover.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 3, 2017 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. John Dale will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
