With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to George Wallace Briscoe of Bradenton, FL a man whose presence left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him. On February 25, 2024, at the age of 89, George peacefully departed this world to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, George was a true son of the Bluegrass State. He excelled in athletics during his youth, showcasing his talent in football, basketball, baseball, and track at Eastern High School. His athletic prowess earned him a basketball scholarship to Morehead State University, where he also played baseball before answering the call to serve his country as a paratrooper in the Army.

After his honorable service, George pursued his passion for education, earning his Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s from Murray State University. At UK he loved tutoring members of the basketball team and assisting with statistics and other needs for Adolph Rupp. He began his teaching career at Crestwood Elementary and went on to impact countless lives through his work at various schools in Ohio and Kentucky.  George's professional journey also led him to the field of insurance, where he excelled as an Allstate agent and later became an independent insurance agent and part owner of Mendenhall Insurance Company.  After retirement they moved to Bradenton, FL where he was a member of Woodland Community Church and Tara Golf and Country Club.

During his career in education, George found the love of his life, Melissa Sexton of Murray, KY while they were both teaching at Thomas Jefferson High School.  He affectionately referred to her as his rock. Together, they shared 56 years of love, laughter, and adventure, building a beautiful family and creating countless cherished memories along the way.

Known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and love of storytelling, George was a beloved jokester and character in every sense of the word. He had a passion for golf, travel, and Kentucky sports. Yet, above all else, George's greatest joy and pride came from his family and friends, whom he loved big and wholeheartedly.
