Gladys Mitchell

Mrs. Gladys Blankenship Mitchell, age 87, of Murray, Kentucky, formerly of Fayetteville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Kentucky.

She was of Baptist faith and a member of the Stewarts Chapel Baptist Church of Flintville, Tennessee. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing.

She was born in Paint Rock, Alabama on February 12, 1925 to the late Walter Gray and Minnie Kimbrough Blankenship. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Mitchell as well as one sister, Zelma Daniel.

She is survived by three daughters, Gayle Mitchell of Gallatin, Tennessee, Mitzi Fawley and husband Blair of Springfield, Tennessee, Teresa Butler and husband Dan of Murray, Kentucky; four granddaughters, Haley Dickson of Springfield, Tennessee, Kelly Townsend of Florence, Alabama, Erin Pugh and husband Josh of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, and Taylor Hopkins and husband Chris of Murray, Kentucky; also nephew Grady Daniel along with several other nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Higgins Funeral Home of Fayetteville, Tennessee. Rev. Charles Jones will officiate with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am till funeral hour at the Higgins Funeral Home of Fayetteville, Tennessee.
