Mr. Grover Harris Burkett, age 94, of Murray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Burkett was born in Hickman County, Kentucky on September 16, 1923 to the late Marvin Bryan Burkett and Lucille (Puckett) Burkett. Mr. Burkett retired as the area manager for Woodman of the World. He was a member of the Murray First United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was also active in several different organizations including: the Rotary Club, the United Methodist Men's Conference and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Burkett was an Army Veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents Mr. Burkett was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris (Mullins) Burkett; one daughter, Shelia Diane Jewell; two sisters, Cassie Puckett and Joan Hutson; and by two brothers, Dennis Burkett and Robert Burkett.
Mr. Burkett is survived by his wife Mary Katherine (Garrison) Burkett of Murray, to whom he married on January 8, 1983 in Murray, Kentucky; one daughter, Beth (Burkett) Faulkner and husband Hal of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; three step daughters, Faye Childress of Almo, Kentucky, Marilyn Starks and husband Glenn of Almo, Kentucky and Carolyn Wilson and husband Earl Nix Wilson of Hazel, Kentucky; one step son, Paul Wayne Garrison and wife Shirley of Murray, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Stephen Jewell, Stewart Jewell, M. Garrett Faulkner and Travis Faulkner; as well as nine great grandchildren, Kyleigh Jewell, Nathan Jewell, Lyla Grace Jewell, Braxton Jewell, Zachary Faulkner, Hannah Faulkner, J. Wesley Faulkner, Jackson Faulkner and Remington Faulkner.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Clinton, Kentucky with Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Fulgham, Kentucky. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray. There will also be a visitation prior to the funeral service on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Clinton.
