Mr. H. Don McCord, age 80, of Murray, Kentucky died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. McCord was born in Murray, Kentucky on March 14, 1938 to the late Joseph Albert McCord and Albateen Burton McCord. He was the former owner and operator of Bowling Green Truck and Trailer and a lifelong member of the First Christian Church serving as elder, deacon and Chairman of the Board, and a lifelong supporter of the Murray High Tigers and Murray State Racers.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one grandson, Micah Cathey, and two brothers, Dr. Gerald McCord and Fred McCord.
Survivors include his wife, Betty McCord of Murray, Kentucky to whom he was married on April 2, 1954 in Corinth, Mississippi; three daughters, Donna Cathey and husband Mike of Murray, Kentucky, Debbie Dibble of Murray, Kentucky and Terri Benton and (Larry) of Gainesville, Florida; one sister, Minnie Jo James of Paducah, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Luke Dibble and wife Kissa of Murray, Kentucky, Mallory Cathey Looney and husband Bret of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Joseph Benton and wife Rachel of Gainesville, Florida, Kelly Dibble Stalls and husband Tyler of Murray, Kentucky, and Jordan Benton of Murray, Kentucky; also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Kora Dibble, Matthew McCord Dibble, Easton Looney, Grayson Looney, and Eliana Benton-Ragovin; several nieces and nephews survive including Tresa McCord-Radermacher and husband Ray.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Ruth Ragovin and David Roos officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the First Christian Church.
