Mr. Haskel Lewis Smith, age 86, of Murray, Kentucky died at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
Mr. Smith was born on January 13, 1932 in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Herbert Smith and Byrdie Lewis Smith. He retired as the Chief Maintenance Engineer for the Murray-Calloway County Hospital after 27 years of service. Mr. Smith was a Navy Veteran in the Korean War and a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Smith; one son, Tommy Smith; and three brothers, Marvin Smith, Millard Smith, and Stanley Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Smith of Murray, Kentucky and Janet Henley and husband Don of Maryville, Tennessee; one son, Lewis Smith of Murray, Kentucky; two sisters, Laverne Furlong of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Rebecca Bradshaw of Austin, Kentucky; one brother, Rolland Smith of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren, Kacie Hearon and husband Andy of Maryville, Tennessee, Colin Henley of Maryville, Tennessee, and Eric Smith and wife Megan of Rochester, Michigan; as well as two great-grandchildren, Abram Hearon of Maryville, Tennessee and Carol Hearon of Maryville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with burial following in the Green Plain Cemetery. John Dale and Steven Hunter will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
