Mr. Hazle Lee Boyd, age 81, of Murray, KY, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011, at his home. Mr. Boyd was born in Calloway Co., KY on Feb. 21, 1929 to the late Dennis Lee Boyd and Maggie Ellis Boyd. Mr. Boyd retired from the Budd Company in Detroit, Michigan as a paint technician after 30 years of service. Mr. Boyd was also a small plane pilot. Mr. Boyd was a member of the South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, a member of the Murray Masonic Lodge #105, a Shriner, and was named a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Wanda Boyd, which were married on April 15, 1950 in Michigan, one daughter, Jeanice Hamilton and husband Marvin of Glendale, Arizona; three sons, Terry Lee Boyd of Murray, KY, Larry Boyd of Pompano Beach, FL, and Darryl Wayne Boyd and wife Vicki of Canton, Georgia; one sister, Nancy Overbey of Murray; six grandchildren, Randal Lee Boyd, Ryan Okalski, Rachel Boyd, Chad Boyd, Jaclyn Boyd, and Heather LaBrie; three great grandchildren, Cassy, Kali and Kase; also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenn Hill, John Dale and Rev. Eugene Nichols officiating. Burial to follow in the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with a Masonic Service being held at 6:00 p.m.
