Mrs. Helen Brooks, age 99, of Dexter, Kentucky, died Monday, December 28, 2020, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Murray, Kentucky, on September 26, 1921, to the late Golden R. Ragsdale and Hattie Florence (Lee) Ragsdale. Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and was the oldest member of the Palestine United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Rafe Brooks, who died in December 1988; two brothers, Albert Ragsdale and W.C. Ragsdale; and by one grandchild, Carrie Beth Rudolph.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Wyvonne Rudolph and her husband Ricky of Dexter, Kentucky and Debbie Murdock and husband Ray of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Joe Brooks of Dexter, Kentucky; one sister, Laura Alice Phelps of Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jodie Brooks and wife Mandy of Murray, Kentucky, Jason Hill and wife Miriam of Murray, Kentucky, Amanda "Mandy" Phillips and husband Jonathan of Dexter, Kentucky and Justin Hill and wife Nicole of Murray, Kentucky; as well as 10 great-grandchildren, Caden and Colton Brooks, Preslee Phillips, Lauren, Tristan, Madison and Morgan Hill, and Briley, Brooks and Lainey Hill.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Palestine United Methodist Church. Rev. Richard Burkeen and Rev. David Allbritten will officiate, and burial will follow in the Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services. There will also be a visitation held at the Palestine United Methodist Church prior to the funeral service on Sunday, January 3, 2021, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
