Herbert Leet Newton

Mr. Herbert Leet Newton, age 86, of Murray, Kentucky died at his home on Sunday, July 12, 2015 after an extended illness.

Mr. Newton was born in Taylor County, Kentucky on April 14, 1929 to the late Sam Newton and Mae (Leet) Newton. Mr. Newton retired from the Florida Gas Company in Munson, Florida and he was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents Mr. Newton was preceded in death by one daughter, Leeta Ann Newton; and by two brothers, Joe Newton and Charles Newton.

Mr. Newton is survived by his wife Mildred Robertson Newton of Murray, to whom he married on June 15, 1991 in Murray; one son, Mitch Newton and wife Heidi of Houston, Texas; one step daughter, Becky Jo Jones and husband Richard of Murray; one sister, Clara Head of Greensboro, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Annie Newton and Hillory Carson both of Houston, Texas; as well as four step grandchildren, Josh White and Ethan White both of Austin, Texas, David Jones of Houston, Texas and Gus Jones of Mayfield, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Earwood and Rev. Rusty Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
