Hettie Mae (Kanagy) Peachey

September 13, 1951 — June 21, 2022

Hettie Mae (Kanagy) Peachey was born to Jacob & Lizzie Kanagy on September 13,1951 at Belleville, Pennsylvania. On June 20, 2022, at the age of 70, the angels came and gently carried her home.
Her childhood years were spent in Big Valley, Pennsylvania. As a little Amish girl, she learned to work hard without complaining. She was the oldest of a family of seven.
She married our Dad, Samuel Peachey, on October 27,1970. They were blessed with 51 happy years together. In searching for the true faith, they were led to the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, where they found peace and rest in their hearts. They were baptized on April 20, 1972, by Minister Harry Wenger. She remained faithful to her vows, and we are waiting for our reunion with her in Heaven.
In 1975, they moved to Wisconsin, where they bought a dairy farm and raised their family of six children. We cherish the many happy memories that were made there.
They moved to Murray, Kentucky in 1993 where they now reside. Dad and Mom opened up their homes and hearts to Abe Leonard, a young boy. He became a part of our family.
They felt the call to give time and served in the Philippines. This was a highlight in their lives. They came home and six months later, left for a term in Window Rock, Arizona. They thoroughly enjoyed the time spent there and became a special Papa and Mama to their girls.
Mom was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She worked tirelessly making our home pleasant, clean and orderly. She was granted the gift of service: Hospitality was second nature to Mom; she loved getting ready for company and many family and friends graced their table. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and many young mothers received one for their first child. Neighbors and friends were blessed with her delicious cinnamon or raspberry rolls. Her garden and flowers were a special joy to her. She enjoyed the simple things of life; sitting on the porch with Dad, drinking coffee and enjoying nature. Mom loved her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and we treasure the memory of happy times spent together. She loved giving gifts for birthdays and Christmas. Her happiest times were when we were all together as a family. She had a true concern for the spiritual welfare of her children and grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews were also special to her. She took an interest in their lives and welcomed them when they came to visit. In the past few years, she loved being with Dad, riding with him in his truck. They treasured the many hours together.
Mother taught us by example how to live an unselfish life. Her quiet spirit enabled her to rise above the trials of life, leaving us with a clear assurance that she is at Home with Jesus.
Left to mourn her unexpected departure is her loving husband, Sam; seven children: Nathanael and Marilyn, Christina and Kenneth Wenger, Loretta and Wes Miller all of Almena, Wisconsin; Shanna and Victor Rodriguez: Dresden, Tennessee; Elwood and Jacki: Murray, Kentucky; Leonard and Dianne: Palmersville, Tennessee; Abe and Trish Leonard: Sequim, Washington; Twenty-eight grandchildren: four great-grandchildren: Four sisters: Nancy and Levi Hoover; Grady,
Arkansas; Liz and Jake Renno: Paris, Texas; Lydia and David Bender: Linden, Tennessee; Esther Kanagy: Avera, Georgia; two brothers: Rudy and Barb Kanagy: Grifton, North Carolina; Noah and Mavis Kanagy: Farmington, Kentucky; three sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews and a host of many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jacob and Lizzie Kanagy; parents-in-law: Abraham and Katie Peachey and a sister-in-law: Rachel Yoder.
