Hollis Davenport

Mr. Hollis Davenport, age 76, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky.

Mr. Davenport was born on October 20, 1946, in Cairo, Illinois to the late Clarence Davenport and Bernice Davenport. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War and worked as a Deputy Jailor for both Calloway and Marshall County Jail. Mr. Davenport was a member of the Calvary Temple Church in Murray, Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steve Jones; as well as two sisters, Caroline Crawford and Mary Lee Hallden.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda (Futrell) Davenport of Murray, Kentucky; four daughters, Holly Ives of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, Angie Underhill and husband Dennis of Murray, Kentucky, Cindy Underhill and husband Doug of Murray, Kentucky, and Jennifer Cox and husband Dave of North Port, Florida; one son, James Davenport and wife Shannon of Okeechobee, Florida; one sister, Judy Thias of Michigan; one half-brother, Ed Brack and wife Linda of Michigan; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as three great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Darrel Young and Bro. Tom Clendenen officiating. Burial will follow in the New Jenny Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
