Mr. Homer Lee Sears, 86, of Carmel, Indiana, formerly of Murray, Kentucky, died Sunday September 25, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mr. Sears was born on July 13, 1925 in Russellville, Kentucky to the late Henry and Jopie Day Sears. Mr. Sears retired with the Dover Elevator Company in Evansville, Indiana and was a member of the Sinking Spring Baptist Church in Murray.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sears was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Louise Sears , who died on January 2, 2008; two brothers, Starling Welch and Richard Sears; and by one sister, Beulah Maude Hope.
Mr. Sears is survived by four daughters, Patsy Sears Hale of Murray, Peggy Sears Johnson of Evansville, Indiana, Vickie Sears Harrison and husband Patrick and Rebecca Sears Brown and husband Matthew all of Carmel, Indiana; one brother, Charlie Sears and wife Virginia of Bowling Green, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Lorie Hale Hutson and husband Mickey, Mark Hale and wife Ginger, Billy Washburn , Tammy Washburn Montgomery, Angie Watkins Collier and husband Jermaine, Tommy Watkins, Jeremy Stewart, Jaclyn Brown and Paige Brown; sixteen great grandchildren; as well as two special nieces, Mildred Page and Beaulah Knight of Russellville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Burns officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray City Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the funeral home.
