Ira Rudy Tripp

Mr. Ira Rudy Tripp, Sr. 82, of Murray, Kentucky died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Mr. Tripp was born in Calloway County Kentucky on July 27, 1930 to the late Ira Murphy Tripp and Ruby Dove Whaley Tripp. Mr. Tripp retired as a barge line engineer for the Crounse Corporation in Paducah, Kentucky after 24 years of service. Mr. Tripp also served as a trustee for the Friendship Cemetery and was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ. Mr. Tripp was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tripp was preceded in death by one daughter, Scarlett Tripp Mathis; one sister, Sylvia Holland; and by two brothers, Thomas Tripp and Tellus Tripp.

Mr. Tripp is survived by his wife, Mattie Ann Lassiter Tripp of Murray, to whom he married on December 22, 1956 in Marshall County Kentucky; one daughter, Cindy Lassiter and husband Jimmy of Murray; two sons, Rudy Tripp, Jr. and wife Tina of Murray and Jimmy Allen Tripp and wife Charlotte of Spokane, Washington; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Ann Linville and husband Greg of O'Fallon, Missouri, Jessica Dawn Lassiter of Murray, Ira Justin Tripp of Murray, Ashley Marie Rayburn and husband Jeremiah of Murray, Jordan Ricky Mathis of Murray, Melanie Sarah Mathis of Almo, Kentucky, Geremy Allen Tripp of Spokane, Washington, and Raymond Tellus Tripp of Spokane, Washington; as well as four great grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Linville, Magdaline Taylor Linville, Tytus Don Linville and Thomas Dewayne Glenn Mathis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale and Jason Hart officiating. Burial to follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the funeral home.
