Dr. James Ray Ammons, 78, of Murray, KY, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray. Dr. Ammons owner and operator of his private medical practice in Murray from 1959 until 1978; he then practiced in TN from 1978 until his retirement in 1985. Dr. Ammons was born in Warren, Arkansas on Dec. 9, 1931 to the late Jim and DuEthyl Weir Ammons. An Army veteran and a member of the First Methodist Church in Murray.
Dr. Ammons was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois Fredin Ammons, one son, James Scott Ammons, and one sister, Margaret Sue Porter.
He is survived by one daughter, Stacey Trotter and husband Bobby of Billings, Montana, one son Jeff Ammons and wife Tina of Murray, and two grandchildren Allyson and Jake Trotter both of Billings, Montana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010 at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – until funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
