Mr. James R. Burkeen, age 89, of Murray, Kentucky, died on, Sunday, November 08, 2020, at the Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray, Kentucky.

Mr. Burkeen was born on November 16, 1930, in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Rufe Burkeen and Winnie (Lovett) Burkeen. He was the owner of Burkeen's Grocery and was a member of the Palestine United Methodist Church.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Mullinax; one sister, Barbara Canup; as well as three brothers, Donald Burkeen and Edison Burkeen.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie C. (Elkins) Burkeen of Murray, Kentucky; they married on, December 7, 1989 in Murray, Kentucky; one son, Rodney Keith Burkeen and wife Carolyn of Benton, Kentucky; one brother, Rufe "Bill" Burkeen, Jr. of Dexter, Kentucky; two step daughters, Teresa Miller of Murray, Kentucky and Lora McCoy and husband Tim of Murray, Kentucky; son-in-law, David Mullinax of Dexter, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Brandie Shiller and husband Mike of Murray, Kentucky, Morgan Walker and husband James of Paducah, Kentucky, Christi Williams of Dexter, Kentucky, Kylie New and husband Mike of Kuttawa, Kentucky, and Angel Clere and husband Todd of Murray, Kentucky; three step grandchildren, Joey Miller and wife Rachel of Murray, Kentucky, Brandon McCoy of Murray, Kentucky, and Ethan McCoy of Murray, Kentucky; as well as four great grandchildren.

A private family graveside will be held and there will be no public visitation.
