James E. Dixon

November 5, 1929 — March 22, 2010

Mr. James E. “Shorty” Dixon, age 80, of State Route 94 West Murray Kentucky, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at 5:40 pm at the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mr. Dixon worked as an auto detailer for 41 years. An Army Veteran and a member of the Dexter Pentecostal Church. Born in Calloway Co., KY on Nov. 5, 1929.
Mr. Dixon is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ethel Duncan Dixon, step mother, Lena Mae Vines Dixon, first wife, Helen Louise Rye Dixon, one sister, Mary Alice Dixon, two brothers, Willie and Tommy Dixon and three infant sons.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Barton Dixon of Murray, one daughter, Diana Spiller and husband Russ of Dexter, KY, two sisters, Ruth Nelson and husband Don of Murray, and Dorthy Collins of North Carolina, four grandchildren, Susan Lassiter and husband Randy of Hazel, KY, James Duncan of New Concord, KY, Shane Spiller and wife Kristan of Denham Springs, LA and Samantha Martin and husband Ryan of Denham Springs, LA, seven great grandchildren also survive, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Rev. Elijah Balentine officiating. Burial to follow in the McDaniel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 24th at the funeral home.
