Mr. James W. Elkins, age 89, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Elkins was born July 17, 1933, in Almo, Kentucky, to the late David Elkins and Hattie Haynes Elkins. He was retired from REA as a lineman with over 40 years of service. He was also a member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Robertson Elkins; one daughter, Antoinette Gividen; two sons, David Elkins and Tony Elkins; three sisters, Eural Moore, Griselda Morgan, and Bernice McCoy; three brothers, Deas Elkins, Layman Elkins, and Bobby Elkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Sears and husband Stephen of Benton, Kentucky, Rachel Tinsley and husband Tony of Hazel, Kentucky; one sister, Dorothy Mathis of Calvert City, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Jamie Elkins, Ashley Teft, Amanda Smith, Derreck Tinsley, Alison Jones, Ryan Sears, Kyle Sears, Elizabeth Sears and Joshua Elkins; fourteen great grandchildren, Carson Elkins, Alex Teft, Addison Teft, William Elkins, Grey Jones, Felix Jones, Reagan Sears, Clark Sears, Anthony Hutchinson, Aidyn Reed, Andrew Smith, Hannah Elkins, Lannah Elkins and Maddy Gydeson.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ronnie Burkeen will officiate, and burial will follow. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #6291. There will be no public visitation held.
