Mr. James Grooms, age 81, of Hazel, KY, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 4:05 p.m. at the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital.
He was a retired Dairy Farmer, and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Grooms was born June 29, 1929 in Graves Co., Ky.
Survivors include his wife, Youlonda Cooper Grooms of Hazel, Ky., they married July 30, 1949 in Corinth, Ms., daughter, Beverly Garrison (Mike) of Murray, Ky., four sisters, Linda Kendall of Murray, Ky. Bobbie Calhoun of Murray, Ky., Shirley Calhoun (Gerald) of Murray, Ky., Patsy Thorn of Murray, Ky., one brother, Huel Grooms of Mayfield, Ky., also three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Toy and Ethel Ward Grooms, brother, Ralph Grooms, and one great grandchild, Aaron Foutch.
Funeral service will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Visitation will be at the church Monday from 10-11a.m. Rev. William Beasley will officiate and burial will follow in the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 5-9 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
