Mr. James “Jim” Allen Sims, age 83, of Miami, Florida, formerly of Murray, Kentucky, passed away, Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the HCA Florida Mercy Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Mr. Sims was born on July 20, 1941, in Finley, Tennessee to the late Malcom Patterson Sims and Bessie Lee (Hickerson) Sims. Mr. Sims was a United States Army National Guard veteran and was the former co-founder and operator of Southeastern Book Company. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murray, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bone Sims; as well as one brother, Jerry Wayne Sims.
Survivors include his daughter, Molly Sims-Stuber and husband Scott Stuber of Los Angeles, California; one son, Todd Sims and wife Alexis Sims of Miami, Florida; as well as five grandchildren, Merritt Sims, Grayson Sims, Brooks Stuber, Scarlett Stuber, and Grey Stuber.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Murray City Cemetery with Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. No public visitation will be held before the graveside service.
