Mr. James Raymond Jones, age 92, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at his home.
Mr. Jones was born on April 19, 1926, in Glasgow, West Virginia to the late Otto (Wimpy) Jones and Garnett Lewis Jones. Mr. Jones was a retired Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a member of the Russell Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition, he was also a member of the American Legion Post #73 in Murray, Kentucky and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Mr. Jones was an Army Veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Artus Wilkinson; and one brother, Lovell Jones.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy L. Godby of Willow, Alaska; one son, Thomas O. Jones of Murray, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Steven P. Godby of Murray, Kentucky, James T. Jones of Murray, Kentucky, and Jennie L. Jones; as well as two great-grandchildren, Damien Godby of Murray, Kentucky and Curtis Godby of Murray, Kentucky.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Burkeen officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
