Mr. James Overby Lamb, 94, of Murray, Kentucky died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Lamb was born in Calloway Co., Kentucky on September 3, 1917 to the late Robert Tillman Lamb and Ollie Simmons Lamb. Mr. Lamb retired after 30 years from the Tappan Manufacturing Company in Murray, Kentucky. Mr. Lamb was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents Mr. Lamb was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Thurman Lamb, who died on April 3, 2010; infant son, John Richard Lamb; as well as one brother, George "Pete" Lamb.
Mr. Lamb is survived by one daughter, Jessie Wanda Cohoon and husband Tom of Murray; one son, James Gary Lamb and wife Karen of Murray; one sister, Hazel Buchanan of Chicago, Illinois; sister in law, Myrtle Mohundro of Hazel, Kentucky; one brother, Odell Lamb of Murray; three grandchildren, Paul Lamb and wife Dusti of Benton, Kentucky, Ruth Lamb and Reeve Lamb both of Murray; two great grandchildren, Preston and Peyton Lamb both of Benton, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and his good friends at the senior citizens center in Murray.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale and Paul Lamb officiating. Burial to follow in the Hicks Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
