Mr. James S. "Jim" Lawson, 71 of Murray, Kentucky died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY.
Mr. Lawson was born in Graves Co. Kentucky on June 10, 1940 to the late Rollie and Kathleen Shelton Lawson. Mr. Lawson served as the first principal at the Murray – Calloway Co. Vocational School and later retired as principal of the Mayfield – Graves Co. Vocational School. Mr. Lawson was a volunteer with the Murray Chamber of Commerce and received the honor by being named a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Lawson was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ and had served as a former Elder for several years.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife, Delores Lawson of Murray, to whom he married on June 18, 1959 in Mayfield, Kentucky; two sons, Todd Lawson and wife Ladona of Franklin, Tennessee and Chad Lawson and wife Monica of Murray; as well as three grandchildren, Macy Lawson of Franklin, Tennessee, Sawyer Lawson and Carver Lawson both of Murray.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. at the Glendale Road Church of Christ with John Dale and Garry Evans officiating. Burial to follow in the Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
