James "Jim" Lowrie

Mr. James “Jim” Lowrie, age 94, of Hazel, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

 Mr. Lowrie was born in Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada, on July 30, 1930, to the late Orville Joseph Lowrie and Rebecca Alison Frazier Lowrie. He was a retired preacher. After graduating from Freed-Hardman College in 1961, he was a minister for the churches of Christ for 63 years. Having preached in Xenia, Ohio, New Castle, Indiana, Plymouth, Indiana, Grandville, Michigan, Benton Harbor, Michigan, Peoria, Illinois, and several churches in Kentucky and Tennessee. Mr. Lowrie was a member of the Green Plains Church of Christ. 

 In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his first wife, Eron Williams Lowrie; his second wife, Mary Francis Lovett White Lowrie; one daughter, Pam Cox; and one sister, Margaret Ricard. 

 Survivors include one daughter, Towona Sherwood and husband Phil of Clemmons, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Margaret Gallimore of Puryear, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Daryll Stone and wife Joan of Allegan, Michigan, Crystal Creviston and husband Donny of Rochester, Indiana, Morgan Stone of Rochester, Indiana, Mallory Schlabach and husband Drew of Lewisville, North Carolina, and John Sherwood and wife Katie of Jeffersonville, Vermont; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

 A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Jonnie Hutchison will officiate, and burial will follow in the Puryear Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. –1:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
