United States Navy Chief Petty Officer James Carlton Moody, 83, of Murray, Kentucky died Sunday July 15, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Moody was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Stewart Co. Tn. to the late Kelsey and Odie Champion Moody. He was retired from the United Sates Navy after 31 years of service, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement he owned and operated Moody Mower Repair. He was a member of the Temple Hill United Methodist, and VFW post # 6291.
Survivors include four daughters, Teresa Gilson of Murray, Ky., Sandra Halter and husband Robert of Mayfield, Ky., Sandy Barnes and husband Gary of Farmington, Ky., and Angie Crouse of Murray, two sons, Joe Futrell, and Barry Futrell and wife Janet all of Murray. Also one sister Marybelle Russell of Dover, Tn., twelve grandchildren, Kjersten Moody Longo, Ashley Gilson Jones, Leslianne Gilson, Michelle Bruenderman, Kerry Hayes, Courtney Futrell, Whitney Futrell, Megan Crouse, Justin Crouse, Keisha McKendree, Shane Joseph, and Jennifer Futrell, also eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Robbie Outland Moody, 2nd wife, Priscilla Johnson Moody, 3rd wife, Ruby Bizzell Moody, son, Michael Moody, and brother, Marley Moody.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill funeral home, Rev. Howard Welch and Rev. Kerry Lambert will officiate, and burial will follow in the Hicks cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
