Mr. James Monroe Morris, age 87, of Murray, KY, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 7:35 p.m. at his home. He was born September 22, 1923, in Fort Henry, Tennessee, to the late Mat and Flowery Robinson Morris. He retired from Murray State University as a foreman in 1990.
Along with his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his wife, Paulene Hill who died August 29, 2006; sister, Bonnie Allen Fulton; and a brother-in-law, Frank Hill.
Mr. Morris is survived by a son, David Anthony (Cynthia Russell) Morris of Murray, KY; sisters, Delia Bell Parker of Puryear, TN, and Katie Reeder of Murray, KY; brother-in-laws, Daryl (Phyllis) Hill of Murray, KY, Linard Hill of Murray, KY, Howard Hill of Murray, KY, and Glynn (Kathy) Hill of Brunswick, GA; grandchildren, Jaydan Russell-Morris, Reannon “Leanna” Nance-Morris and fiancé Max Lopez of Murray, KY; best friends his pets, “Sassy” and “Nabisco”; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family Ted (Dora) Forrest of Louisville, KY, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. John Dale will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
