Bro. James Paul Bogard, age 90, of Mayfield, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Mills Nursing & Rehab in Mayfield, Kentucky.
Bro. Bogard was born in Calloway County, Kentucky, on January 29, 1933, to the late Hayden Avery Bogard and Bessie Mae (Miller) Bogard. Bro. Bogard was a retired Baptist pastor. He was a member of the West Broadway Baptist Church in Mayfield, Kentucky and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Bro. Bogard was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda; his second wife, Sue; one son, Steve Bogard; four sisters, Estelle Johnson, Wilma Hicks, Gertie Sheppard, and June Cunningham; as well as three brothers, Ralph Bogard, Rudell Bogard, and Tommy Bogard.
Survivors include his son, Dale Bogard and wife Rhonda of Benton, Kentucky; two bonus daughters, Lisa Cox of Murray, Kentucky and Robyn Looper of Metropolis, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, Tonya Morton and husband Justin, Jeff Bogard, Ashley Bogard, Alyssa Bogard, Braden Bogard, Samantha Bowland and husband Aaron, Lyndsey Looper, Joe Ben Hendrick, Margaret Hendrick, Matthew Hendrick, Gabe Clark, and Quentin Cox; as well as eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Bro. Glenn Cope, Bro. Jeff Collins, and Bro. Ricky Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Ledbetter Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
