Mr. James R. Payne, age 93, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee formerly of Murray, Kentucky died on Tuesday, February 07, 2017 at Adams Place Rehab in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
He was retired from the Murray Division of the Tappan Manufacturing Company that was in Murray, Kentucky. He was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Oaks Country Club and Woodman of the World.
He was born in Waco, Texas on December 30, 1923 to the late James E and Lacy E. Stem Payne. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by one sister, Orvis Brinn
He is survived by his wife Agnes Greenfield Payne of Murray, Kentucky. They were married in Murray, Kentucky on December 28, 1943. Also, survived by one daughter, Sherie P. Burnette and husband Ron of Dallas, Texas; one son, Dr. Steven Payne and wife Gloria of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one brother, Harry Payne of Clarmont, Florida; five grandchildren, Lorie Welch, Courtney Burnette, Raegan Payne, Matthew Payne and Austin Payne; four great grandchildren, Ranson, Copeland, Isabella and Madeline.
Funeral services will be 11:30 am Friday, February 10, 2017 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. John Dale and Gary Evans will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at the funeral home from 10:00 till funeral hour.
