Mr. James Mac Smotherman, 76, of Hazel, Kentucky died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Mr. Smotherman was born in Calloway County Kentucky on October 15, 1936 to the late Rev. James Harold Smotherman and Opal Lassiter Smotherman.
Mr. Smotherman was a retired educator and professional truck driver, as well as a Baptist minister for over 17 years. He was a member of the Sinking Spring Baptist Church, there he taught Sunday school and was the song leader.
Mr. Smotherman is survived by his wife, Neta Gale Smotherman of Hazel; one daughter, Jennifer Schaffer of Sikeston, Missouri; one sister, Wanda Cole and husband Howard of Byhalia, Mississippi; two grandsons, Doug and Conner Schaffer both of the St. Louis, Missouri area; as well as one nephew and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00a.m. until funeral hour (11:00 a.m.) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the funeral home.
