Mr. James Melvin Williams age 76, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
He was a retired painter; member of the Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church; he was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was born April 30, 1937 to the late Victor and Alpha Mae Jones Williams. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo (Dowdy) Williams, to whom he married on December 23, 1961 in Marshall County; one step daughter, Chelsea Oakley; and by two sisters, Hilda Dick and Opal Walters.
Mr. Williams is survived by one daughter, Karen Fay Williams of Murray, Kentucky; one sister, Agnis McClain and husband Charles of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers, Rudy Williams and wife Wanda of Paris Tennessee, Roy Williams, Sr. and wife June of Murray, Kentucky.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Elm Grove Cemetery with Rev. Robert McKinney officiating with burial to follow. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the funeral home.
