Mrs. Jean Garland Colson Humphreys age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Legacy Healthcare in Puryear, Tennessee.
Mrs. Humphreys was born August 5, 1930 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Toy and Eula Mae Boggess Garland. Many will remember Jean as an employee of Lindsey's Jewelry Store. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Jean also enjoyed taking care of her flowers, and doing needlework.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D.T. "Buddy" Humphreys, four sisters, Eva Scott, Dorothy Hutchins, Elaine Etherton, and Judy Garland; brother, Troy Garland.
Survivors include one son, Hugh R. Colson and wife Rebecca of Evansville, Indiana; daughter, Peggy Colson Bazzell and husband Bobby of Farmington, Kentucky, two step daughters, Genevieve Adams and husband Bill, and Cindy Ragsdale and husband Larry all of Murray, Kentucky; three sisters, Hazel Holderby, Lottie Garland, and Joyce Vance and husband Tommy, all of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers, Roy Garland and wife Jimmie of Hazel, Kentucky, and Paul Garland and wife Vickie of Murray, Kentucky; one grandchild, Scott Bazzell and wife Rebeca of Tempe, Arizona; step grandchildren, Chip Adams and wife Jill, Courtney Vanover and husband Ryan, Matt Ragsdale and wife Susan all of Murray, Kentucky. Jenny Bennett and husband Greg of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Robyn Powers and husband Todd of Paducah, Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Liliana Bazzell and Sarah Bazzell of Tempe, Arizona; step great-grandchildren, Will, Callie, and Kate Adams, Lily and Avery Vanover, Andy and Lauren Bennett, and Nora Powers.
Funeral Services will be held 11: 00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Dr. Jim Simmons and John Dale will officiate. Burial will follow at the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, August, 31, 2015from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
