Jennie "Carolyn" Alton

Mrs. Jennie "Carolyn" Alton, age 79, of Hazel, Kentucky, died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Alton was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on August 23, 1936 to the late Robert Hughie Osbron and Rosie Nell (Ferguson) Osbron. Mrs. Alton retired as a cashier at Dee's Bank of Hazel in Hazel, Kentucky after 30 years of service. Following her retirement she worked at the Hazel Post Office for eleven years. Mrs. Alton was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the Hazel Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Alton was preceded in death by one brother, David Hugh Osbron.

Mrs. Alton is survived by her husband, James Gilbert Alton of Hazel, Kentucky, to whom she married on March 31, 1956 in Brewers, Kentucky; two sons, Hugh Gilbert Alton and Timothy Joe Alton both of Hazel, Kentucky; one sister, Betty June Osbron of Murray, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jennifer Kay Henley of Murray, Kentucky, Christopher Edward Alton of Murray, Kentucky, Miranda Marie Alton of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Emily Rose Alton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Madison RheaAnn Alton of Hazel, Kentucky; as well as three great grandchildren, Xavier Lee Brown, Carter Sebastian Coleman and Micah Brent Henley all of Murray, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Mackie Gallimore officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
