Jessie Maye Atkins Fengler passed away on July 24, 2025, in Bocca Raton, Florida.
She was born in Murray, Kentucky, to Pauline and Tommie Atkins, Jessie’s life was marked by intelligence, determination, and grace. She graduated as valedictorian of both her high school and college classes, earning a scholarship to Murray State University.
Jessie’s talents and charm took her to New York City, where she found success as a model and actress, spending ten years on As the World Turns. Later, she broke new ground as the first female advertising agent in New York, creating commercials with her husband John for companies such as Diet Coke, Bayer Aspirin, and Legos.
In retirement, Jessie and John made their home in Boca Raton, where she enjoyed a full and meaningful life. Jessie had a way of making everyone feel special—she was deeply loved by all who met her.
She is survived by her step-son John Mark Fengler, her niece Pamela Atkins Schmidt and her husband Don and sons Kurt and Kraig. She is also survived by her cousin Margaret Ruth Atkins Elder and her husband Charles, Jan Babir, her husband Dave and sons of Orlando, Elisa Elder of Orlando, and her dear friend Helene Greenberg of Boca Raton.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, John Fengler, and by her brothers, Fred Eugene Atkins and Private Billy Ray Atkins.
A burial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 8, 2025, at Elm Grove Cemetery.
