Mr. Jimmy Wilder

Mr. Jimmy Wilder, age 82, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Kentucky.

Mr. Wilder was born on October 29, 1942, in Malvern, Arkansas, to the late Woodrow Wilder and Pauline Simpson Wilder.

Jimmy began his professional career and developed his love for collegiate athletics while working at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He built an extensive résumé in athletic administration, working at various universities. His career included a tenure at Murray State University in the early 1980s, where he met his wife, Joanna. After his time at Murray State, Jimmy worked at Memphis State University, Ole Miss, and the Southern Conference in Asheville, North Carolina, before returning to Murray State University in the early 1990s.

He earned a B.S. degree from Arkansas State University and was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanna Sykes Wilder.

Survivors include his son, Bart Wilder, of Birmingham, Alabama; his brother, Randy Wilder, and wife, Jo Ann, of Collierville, Tennessee; and two grandsons, Drew Wilder and Micah Wilder, both of Birmingham, Alabama.

A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
