Mr. Joe M. Hosford, age 87, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Hosford was born in Fort Henry, Tennessee on November 11, 1929 to the late Mack Hosford and Cora (Mathes) Hosford. Joe grew up in Stewart County, which is now LBL. He moved to Murray in 1948 and after graduating moved and lived in Puryear, Tennessee. He later came back to Murray and was employed at the Murray Electric System as a lineman for 16 years. Joe later took a position at Murray State University as a senior foreman in the electrical department and retired in 1991 after 23 years. After retiring he enjoyed antique cars, traveling and camping. Mr. Hosford was a member of the Glendale Road Church of Christ and served in the Tennessee National Guard.
In addition to his parents Mr. Hosford was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Louie and Millard Hosford.
Mr. Hosford is survived by his wife, Evanee Hosford of Murray, Kentucky to whom he married on October 20, 1951 in Corinth, Mississippi; one daughter, Marsha Hosford Morris of Buchanan, Tennessee; one son, Carl W. Hosford and wife Patti of Paducah, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Tony Farris of Murray, Kentucky, Bethany Hosford of Denver, Colorado and Weston Hosford of Paducah, Kentucky; as well on great grandchild, Vincent Farris of Barlow, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with John Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral hour at the funeral home.
