Mr. Joe W. Parker, 92, of Murray, Kentucky died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Parker was born in New Concord, Kentucky on September 29, 1921 to the late Hafford Parker and Birdie Dunn Parker. Mr. Parker was a co- owner and operator of Parker Ford Auto Dealership, the family business, for nearly 70 years. Mr. Parker was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murray and a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class. He was a World War II Marine veteran.
In addition to his parents Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, of 62 years, Madge Parker; and by two brothers, Pat Parker and James W. Parker.
He is survived by one sister, Dortha Parker Davidson of Madison, Mississippi; one brother, John H. Parker and wife Judy of Murray; one sister-in-law, Charlotte R. Parker of Murray; one niece, Beverly Parker Noland of Murray; four nephews, Dr. Steve Davidson of Ridgeland, Mississippi, John L. Davidson of Madison, Mississippi, Mark E. Davidson of Colleyville, Texas and David Parker of Murray; as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Murray City Cemetery with military honors. Burial will follow.
