Mr. John Henry Bowker, age 84, of Murray, Kentucky, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Bowker was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee on January 18, 1930 to the late James G. Bowker and Thelma C. Bowker. Mr. Bowker had retired as a grocery salesman, in which he had served many local grocery stores in this area. After his retirement Mr. Bowker was employed by Gene and Jo's Florist in Murray. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Gleaner/Friendship Sunday School Class and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Bowker is survived by his wife, Rebecca Joan Bowker, the daughter of the late Hunter and Winnie Love, of Murray; they married on August 31, 1952 in Murray; one son, James David Bowker and wife Ann of Hernando, Mississippi; a half-sister, Sandy Bowker of Clarksville, Tennessee; a half-brother, Dan Bowker and wife Mary of Palmyra, Tennessee; as well as two grandchildren, Toby Bowker of Murray and Sabrina Bowker of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Murray at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rick Dye and Rev. Jim Stahler officiating and a eulogy by Roy Weatherly. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held at the First United Methodist Church on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until funeral hour (11:00 a.m.).
