John Henry Gammon

Mr. John Henry Gammon, age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

Mr. Gammon was born on December 19, 1938, in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late John Gammon and Velma Kleiman Kuntz. John was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, retired from Kenlake Foods and was co-owner of Lakewood Resort Campground. He was also of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Oretha Gammon; two sisters, Betty Fussner and Rosemary Kennedy.

Survivors include three daughters, Paula Outland, Krista Crass and husband Gary, Lesa Sims and husband Rusty all of Murray, Kentucky; two sons, John Gammon and spouse Jamie Oxendine of Murray, Kentucky and Richard Maupin of Brandon, Florida; one step brother, Jim Williams of Evansville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Gary F. Crass of Murray, Kentucky, Samantha Hightower and husband Matt of Tallahassee, Florida, Catherine Gonzalez and husband Mike of Pflugerville,  Texas, Sarah Sims of Murray, Kentucky and Jessie Outland and wife Tracey of Georgia; also four great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Bro. Ronnie Burkeen will officiate, and burial will follow in the Barnett Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. till 200 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
