Mr. John Thomas (Tommy) Phillips, age 78, of Murray, Kentucky died Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Phillips was born in Calloway County, Kentucky on September 28, 1944, to the late Rupert James Phillips and Opal Mae Kimbro Phillips. He was a retired Police Officer with the Murray City Police Department and the Murray State University Police Department. Mr. Phillips was a United States Air Force Veteran in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Jean Potts Phillips; three sisters, Maxine Milke, Mary Lou Doran, Oretha Gammon; as well as one brother, Ronald Phillips.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Phillips and wife Tracy and Tommy Phillips and wife Valerie both of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Joe Pat Phillips and wife Cathy of Fulton, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Shayla Phillips of Coldwater, Kentucky, Dylan Phillips of Murray, Kentucky, Madison Janiec and husband Sean of Henderson, Tennessee, Caden Phillips of Quantico, Virginia, and Ella Phillips of Lebanon, Tennessee; as well as one great-grandchild, Rilynn Jean Rule of Coldwater, Kentucky.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
