Johnny S. Garland

Mr. Johnny S. Garland, age 77, of Dexter, Kentucky, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Garland was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Garland and Mary Gladys Pritchett; two brothers, Orvis Garland and Bobby J. Garland; one sister, Minnie Lou Thompson.

He was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ. He worked at the Murray Division of Tappan in Murray until the plant closed. He also worked for Lassiter Plaster in Murray and later retired from Murray State University in 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Georgia Garland of Dexter, Kentucky; one brother, Billy G. Garland of Dexter, Kentucky; daughter, Teresa Mabe of Almo, Kentucky; two sons, Greg Garland and wife Antoinya of Dexter, Robert Garland of Dexter; eight grandchildren, Feleicia Dean Harrell and husband Chuck, Tori Garland, Morgan Borens, Katie Sevilla, Emily Garland, Haley Garland, Justin Garland and Jerimah Garland; eight great grandchildren, Dakota Dean, Alyssa Harrell, Levi Garland, Cooper Garland, Reece Garland, Kayson Barnett, Kyleigh Garland and C.J. Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Brett Miles and Bro. David Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 form 12-2 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
