Mr. Johnny Ingram, age 82, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away, Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.
Johnny was born December 10, 1942, in Golden Pond, Ky., in what was then known as “Between the Rivers” before being transformed into Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. After being forced to move by TVA from their home in the Ferguson Springs community near Energy Lake, the Ingram family settled in the Kirksey community of Calloway County where he spent the remainder of his life. Even so, he still had fond memories of his childhood spent with family and friends between the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers that he shared with his family on many trips back to LBL, including his education at Trigg County High School in Cadiz and Christian upbringing in Ferguson Springs Baptist Church.
His parents were the late Lucas and Mary (Bohannon) Ingram. He was also preceded in death by his four siblings; brothers: Louis “Jimbo”, Robert and Carl Ingram and sister Dorothy (Ingram) Lamb, and nephew Robert “Sammy” Ingram. When mentioning any of his immediate family that had long since past, you could see overwhelming joy, yet sadness in his eyes at the same time as the pain of missing each one stayed with him throughout his life. Now, there is no more pain, but only joy as they’re all joined together again.
During his adulthood, he spent over 35 years as an employee of General Tire & Rubber Company in Mayfield, Ky. where he made countless friends and memories. In his free time, you could find him in the great outdoors fishing, camping and just enjoying the company of his loved ones.
The only thing he loved more than his family and friends, was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who he faithfully served as a member of West Fork Baptist Church in the Stella community of Calloway County for nearly three decades.
Those left behind to cherish his memory the most include his loving and devoted wife of nearly 62 years, Nancy (Forth) Ingram of Murray, Ky.; his two daughters, Karen (Shane) Henley of Almo, Ky. and Dana (Jason) Hollan of Murray, Ky.; four grandchildren, Aaron (Julie) Clayton of Gilbertsville, Ky., Chelsea (Ben) Clark of Sedalia, Ky., Tyler Hollan of Murray, Ky. and Emily Hollan of Murray, Ky; two great-grandchildren, Beckett Clark of Sedalia, Ky. and Chesney Clayton of Gilbertsville, Ky, along with all of his extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved so much and made sure each knew how much they were loved any time they were near him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Bro. Randy Kuykendall and Bro. Robert Chandler will officiate, and burial will follow in the West Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in the Stella community of Murray. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in memory of Johnny Ingram to the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House; 803 Poplar Street, Murray, KY 42071.
