Joseph "Joe" McClard

May 28, 1935 — December 4, 2015

Mr. Joseph Franklin "Joe" McClard, age 80, of Murray, Kentucky passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 4, 2015 at his home after an extended illness.
Joe was born on May 28th, 1935 in Calloway County; he was the son of the late Vessie H. McClard and Lillian Falwell Carraway.
He was a lifelong Baptist and proud of his faith.
Mr. McClard was a retired Murray businessman. He was co-owner of McClard's Shell Station and Towing Service. This location was opened in April 1961, and was a fixture at 6th and Main streets for thirty-six years until July 26, 1997 when they closed their doors and relocated the towing business to 7th Street.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister Hazel McClard Vickers, brother in law-business partner Vic, and son in law Allen Cunningham.
Mr. McClard leaves to cherish his memory one daughter: Vicki Lynn McClard of Murray, and granddaughter Katelyn Jump of Nashville. Also two nieces Sheila Haley of Murray and S. Leigh Angle and husband of Mississippi, four great nephews and several cousins also survive, along with his two faithful canine companions whom he loved dearly.
Joe was a loving father, grandfather, and uncle who enjoyed the time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends and "station" brothers whom he loved like family. He had a remarkable personality and always greeted everyone with a smile; he never met a stranger. Joe will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be scheduled at a later date. J.H. Churchill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
