Joyce McDowell

Mrs. Joyce McDowell, age 77, of Murray, KY, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at 4:55 p.m. Mrs. McDowell was born in Providence, KY on April 10, 1933 to the late Bennett and Mable Hughes Belt. Mrs. McDowell a retired bank clerk with the Bank of Murray, now Regions Bank. Mrs. McDowell was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she had formerly taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class for forty years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Fox and by three brothers, Billy Belt, Curt Belt and Doug Belt.
Mrs. McDowell is survived by her husband, Bobby McDowell of Murray, married on February 25, 1950 in Providence, KY; one daughter, Anita Poynor and husband David; two sons, David McDowell and wife Amy and Dwight McDowell and wife Karen all of Murray; one sister, Shirley Harris and husband Mark of Slaughters, KY; one brother, Donnie Belt of Madisonville, KY; three grandchildren, John David Poynor and wife Dyane, Justin McDowell and Sarah McDowell; one great grandchild, David Knox Poynor all of Murray.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the funeral home.
