Karin Lindsay McFerron, 75, of New Concord, KY died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at her home following an extended illness.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Murray, KY.
Karin was born on March 7, 1942 in St.Louis Missouri to John Robert and Marguerite Juanita Frank, both deceased. She graduated from Berkeley High School in St.Louis in 1960 and then attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri for two years. On November 17, 1962 she married Second Lieutenant Darrel A. McFerron in St.Louis, Missouri. Their first 30 years of marriage was spent as a military family with tours of duty throughout the United States along with three tours in Germany totaling 11 years. Karin was both a loving mother and military wife that played a prominent role in fostering her husband's military career. She cherished her life as a military wife. In the following 25 years, Karin has enjoyed being a grandmother, member of the church choir, traveling widely with friends and visiting friends in faraway places. She also worked for several years at two local businesses, initially at Metamorphosis in Mayfield and then Miss Bradies in Hazel.
Karin is survived by her husband, Colonel Darrel A. McFerron; a son John Robert McFerron and his wife Trudi of Chesterfield, Missouri; a daughter Molly Parker and her husband Keith of Frankfort, KY; five grandchildren, Emily, Jacob and Nicholas McFerron and Samuel and Grace Parker; two sisters, Kathryn Avery and her husband Dale of Lake St.Louis, Missouri and Mary Lauber and her husband Daryl of Lincoln, Nebraska.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the JH Churchill Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Reverend Keith Inman will preside over the service. Bill Adams' Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pall bears. Burial will be on April 20, 2017 at the National Military Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks in St.Louis, Missouri. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on the cemetery grounds for family and friends in the greater St.Louis area. The Reverend Daryl Lauber will preside over the service.
