Katherine Gayle Rowlett Robertson, age 74, died February 9, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born October 28, 1939 in Murray, Kentucky to Joseph Mack Rowlett and Treva Tressa Key in addition to her parent she was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Picciolo; two sisters, Betty Rowlett and Ann Morrison; one brother, Charles Washam; one nephew Michael Paslaski.
Gayle was very proud of her roots in Calloway County and the wonderful times she had there with her family and friends over the years. She grew up and attended school in Lockport, Illinois. After traveling the world raising her family, she discovered the warm joys of San Antonio and decided to stay. Gayle worked for many years in accounting and contracting for the Army and Air Force. After finding her long desired tree and rock covered hill in the country, Gayle threw herself into the new experiences of building barbed wire fences, corrals, sheds and cabins, driving tractors and tending her cows. She reveled in the arrival of every new type of wildlife and the blooming of every wildflower.
She is survived by her husband Forrest Robertson; two sons, Joe and Roger Picciolo; one sister, Fran Osmus; five nieces, Lisa Albin (Mark), Donna Bush (Hulon), Lil Courtney, Wendy Holzschuh (Drew) and Tressa Vergonet (Bill); two nephews Hugh Osmus (Lynn) and Paul Paslaski; four grandchildren, Eric, Tony, Matthew and Miranda Picciolo; three great grandchildren, Heidi, Hayden and Ashlynn Picciolo.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Murray City Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Arrangements with J. H. Churchill Funeral Home.
Because Gayle loved to help others, her eyes are still shining brightly, giving sight to two others, and she would encourage everyone to consider also being a donor. She had a special place in her heart for every little feline and would ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to SCAT, Stray Cat Adoptions of Texas, P.O. Box 700571, San Antonio, Texas 78270.
