Keith Wayne Starks, 64, passed away Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024, at Baptist Health Paducah after a long hard fight with cancer. His courage and strength have been an inspiration, and he will be greatly missed.
Keith was born January 26, 1960, in Murray, Kentucky to Jerry Franklin Starks and Brenda Johnson Starks which preceded him.
He is survived by Shelia Haley; son, Kyle Starks and wife Kailey, all of Almo; son, Klent Starks and wife Mary Grace of Murray; and his favorite sister, Kim and husband Steve of Hazel. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Layla, Sutton, Micah, Arthur and Annie; and nephews, Jeremy Phillips (Sheila) of Almo and Brandon Phillips (Danielle) of Lexington; as well as his best Father’s Day present, his donkey, “Lucy” and her companion “Percy”.
Keith was a water well driller for 46 years as co-owner and owner of Starks Drilling and as a partner with his son since 2021. He captured water for hundreds of people in Western Kentucky and West Tennessee since 1978. He was a member of the Kentucky Groundwater Association, the Tennessee Water Well Association, the National Groundwater Association, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Keith loved motorcycles since he was big enough to hold one up and riding with friends both near and far. He also found a love of traveling and for the past 12 years he and Shelia have traveled across the country with him earning his 50th U.S. state in August.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Brandon Phillips will officiate, and burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
